PROGRAM LEVEL

Students can complete the program requirements in four years over eight semesters on a fulltime basis.

The language of instruction for the Bachelor in Law program is English.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The Bachelor’s Degree in Law aims to equip students with essential knowledge and skills in both public and private law. The program provides the necessary infrastructure, materials, and facilities to support the study of law, equipping students with the knowledge and skills required to address complex legal issues within national and international contexts, preparing them for successful careers in legal practice, the judiciary, government, business, and postgraduate studies.

DETAILED STUDY PLAN

The plan is arranged to achieve a balance between courses of private law department and public law department. Hence, throughout the period of their study, students will be taking subjects from both departments.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

The Bachelor in Law program aims to achieve the following objectives:

  1. Equip graduates to address legal issues and challenges effectively by developing practical legal solutions and preparing them to compete successfully in the local and international job market.
  2. Promote excellence in legal research by enabling students to produce high-quality research papers that meet rigorous academic standards and address societal needs.
  3. Develop critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and problem-solving skills to prepare graduates for postgraduate studies, lifelong learning, and professional development.
  4. Prepare graduates to contribute positively to society by upholding responsibility, integrity, and professionalism and the highest standards of legal ethics.
  5. Reinforce national values, citizenship, and the culture of human rights and fundamental freedoms within Bahraini society, while fostering constructive engagement with legislative and judicial institutions.

STUDENT ENROLLMENT

Terms of Admission:

The target learners of the Bachelor in Law (English) program are students who have graduated from public/private secondary schools with appropriate English language and who fulfill the admission requirements, as stated in Chapter 2 (First) of the Study and Examinations Regulation in UOB, in addition to the specific admission requirements approved for the Bachelor program, in particular.

  1. Have a high school diploma or its equivalent, with a cumulative average of at least 85%, based on the applicants’ competitive average.
  2. Obtained a score of 5.5 on the IELTS exam, or its equivalent on the TOEFL exam (high school graduates of the British program, graduates of the American program, IGCSE or AS/A Levels, and the International Baccalaureate (IB) are exempted from this requirement).

 GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

To graduate, students must:

  1. Successfully complete all required courses, totaling 131 credit hours, within the maximum period specified in the university’s regulations.
  2. Achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 out of 4.0
  3. Achieve a minimum major GPA of 2.0 out of 4.0 in courses designated by the code “LAW,” as outlined in the program’s curriculum.
  4. Fulfill any other requirements stipulated in the university’s study and examination regulations.

For the Associate Diploma:

Associate Diploma in Law is an exist degree that allows students to leave the program at certain level due to one of the following circumstances:

  • Students need to withdraw from a program due to personal or medical reasons.
  • Students on probation who are at risk of dismissal from the University.
