The College of law aims at achieving its objectives by carrying out its primary role which is spreading legal awareness. The PhD program at the college of law is considered as one of its many achievements and contributions in keeping up with legal developments. Furthermore, the program came as a result to the overall evolution of the different programs and fields in UoB including the legal sector.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The College of Law aims is to achieving its objectives by carrying out its primary role, which is spreading legal awareness. This Ph.D. program at the College of Law considered one of its many achievements and contributions in keeping up with legal developments.
This program defined as specialized, in-depth academic studies following the LLM degree in Private Law. Upon completion of the program requirements, the researcher will grant a Ph.D. in Private Law.
DETAILED STUDY PLAN
The PhD program can be defined as specialized academic studies as a stage following the Master degree program in Law. Upon completion of the program requirements, the researcher will be granted a PhD degree in Law specialized in private law.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
The program aims to:
- Providing the Arabian Gulf community with graduates with distinguished capabilities and experiences in research and the use of its tools.
- Gaining scientific research skills and use its tools to find solutions to the problems in this specific field to contribute to the development of the society.
- Preparing students to innovate research in all branches of specialization, to increase the opportunity for scientific publication.
- Enabling the researchers to acquire the skills of analyzing, interpretation, weighting, inference and criticism. In addition, raise their competitive ability to engage in the labor market.
- Creating the appropriate environment for creativity and innovation in various legislative, judicial and jurisprudential fields, as well as developing leadership skills.
ADMISSION
Terms of Admission
The following conditions are required for admission to the program of Ph.D. in Private Law:
- The applicant should have both LLB and LLM degrees in Private Law from the University of Bahrain or other well reputable university.
- The applicant GPA should not be less than 3 out of 4 according to the points-based system or its equivalent in other evaluation methods in LLM degree, and 2.67 in LLB degree.
- The applicant should succeed in the written test provided by the department to ensure that the scientific level is up to the required standards.
- The applicant should successfully pass the personal interview held by the department.
- The applicant should have a TOEFL certificate or its equivalent in other accredited examination centers in English, with a scores determined by the University’s Council.
- If the applicant could not provide a TOEFL certificate, the applicant should pass two courses in English that are determined by the relevant department, and the student’s admission will considered canceled in case these two courses have not been pass after the second attempt.
Procedures of Admission
- Enrollment application form (available on the Deanship of Graduate Studies webpage) shall be submitted to the Deanship of Admission and Registration, within the specified period in the university academic calendar, accompanied by all the necessary supporting documents.
- After the Deanship of Admission and Registration ensure that the applications meet the requirements in Article (12) of the Graduate Studies System, the enrollment application and their supporting attachments will be transferred to the College of Law so the Private Law Department study the application, conduct the written exam and personal interview, and verifies the certificates of English. The application with all relevant documents will then be transferred to the College Council for approval, and then be transferred to the Graduate Studies Council.
- The Deanship of Graduate Studies Council issue list of those admitted to the Ph.D. program based on the recommendation of the Private Law Department and College of law Council. The Deanship of Admission and Registration announce the names of those whom have been admitted.

The language of study for the Ph.D. in Private Law  program is Arabic.
